Missionary Baptist Institute & Seminary

The school started in 1979 through the sponsorship of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Tatum, Texas, in a rented building in Matina, Davao City. The pioneering classes were so curious of this new group of Baptists that came to the area, since this was the first mission work of the Missionary Baptist Group in Davao City which is the capital of Davao Del Sur, Mindanao.

Years passed by and the students learned the marks of the New Testament Church in disagreement with those protestants and other so called Baptists. All of the students in that class have mission outreaches every Saturday and Sunday and it has greatly helped the development of the ABA works in Davao City.

The first graduate rolled off in 1982, and since then the enthusiasm is great on these mission goals, first, to reach the unsaved and second, to reach those saved that do not belong to the true New Testament Church. These two goals made possible the affiliation of other so-called churches through scriptural baptism to the Missionary Baptist Group.

What was taking place in the classrooms of the pioneering class gave a great impact to what is MBIS-Cebu today!

The school is organized as a nonprofit organization and operates under the sponsorship of Abiko Baptist Church in Japan, co-sponsored by Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Tatum, Texas USA. The provisions of this school preclude the use of property or funds by Abiko Baptist Church which may be given or procured for the purpose for which the MBIS-Cebu was established. All funds are held and administered by the trustees as provided in said school. Accurate records of all finances are maintained and reported to the churches monthly and annually. The school operates under the direct authority of Abiko Baptist Church with the support, cooperation, and endorsement of churches throughout the Philippines, Japan (JBA) & the American Churches (ABA) and beyond. All officers and instructors must have final approval of the church upon recommendation of the director, dean and faculty of the school. This insures faculty cooperation and soundness in faith on doctrinal issues.

Vision Statement

Through the Missionary Baptist Institute & Seminary in Cebu with its dedicated faculty and staff, we want to make a growing number of Missionary Baptist leaders, pastors, missionaries, who are doctrinally equipped, adequately trained in Evangelism and building Missions and Churches and will do it the Scriptural way in fulfilling the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ, Matthew 28:18-20.
